Funny about the E160 cone is that the center is bowl shaped, but halfway up the cone it inverts and goes curvilinear. I've never seen that anywhere else.
I like the look of curvilinear without a cap or phase plug. The center is just an inverted peak. I had a bead on a pair of ATD drivers once, made my offer for 2 of 4, and then someone else made an offer for all 4 and got them because he wanted all 4.
I like the looks of woven cones or differing pulp types for good visuals, but doesn't make or break me from using others.
Inverted half roll surrounds look weird to me. Otherwise, don't know that I care too much.
In terms of operation, the Antisinusoidal Revelator movement is pretty cool to watch. However, the 5x8 SB racetrack woofer looks funny under long excursions. Both sound great!
As I understand it, there was a closeout on Accuton motors when a model or line was discontinued. PE/Dayton snapped them up and made the 6 and 8 models knowing it was a limited run.
Anybody eyeballing anything? Awaiting to see if madisound puts wishlist items out there in specials section and try to avoid impulse buys of things just because 'good deal'. Overall have plenty of toys to play with and reshuffle. Hah, should create thread for peeps to list their notable stockpile but imagine for some here that list would be long if was all inclusive, maybe more like notable pieces - or if there is existing thread to revive.
Yeah, I have some stuff in my Madisound cart waiting for Black Friday. I forgot that they don't just give an across the board discount like PE. Sale or no sale I'm getting some Markaudio CHP-90s for my 2025 InDIYana build.

For what it's worth: I really like the Markaudio CHR-90s in my last build (just a different cone material than the CHP's you are looking at). I think broad-rangers are often overlooked for use as a midrange, as well. The Markaudio has a decent Xmax and provides great latitude in frequency range.

The borrow or trade thread was supposed to be a place where people could see what drivers we all had... that we were willing to part with at least.
I’ve been wanting to play around with those little tectonic bmr drivers for awhile. The 2” are $7.98 ea. at PE, down to $6.70 quantity 4 or more. With the THANKS24 15% code, $5.70 each. So I got 14 and a few other odds and ends toget free shipping.

I have 8 of those on Christmas list. Hoping to do something like John H brought to Ankeny this year, but with a single woofer.
The finish work John did on those baffles is just amazing! And they sounded good too. I liked them better in the original position but everyone else seemed to like them better when they were closer to the back wall.

Got 'em..

Heavy for a Neo midbass....

As cool as they are, still not a fan of dust cap / pole piece less cones. They just don't visually sit right with me. 🤷🏻♂️ Anyone else feel this way?
for visuals: I like the ‘pro’ surrounds (don’t know why) and for midranges imo just can’t beat the convex cones

Too bad PE killed these. Nice drivers.

The crossover schematic has capacitor symbols labeled in ohms.

Woops! Thanks for pointing that out. l'll edit that so Brad can publish the correct info.
Yep. All good we’ll figure it out.

There are a LOT of driver's on sale at pretty deep discounts right now. With another 15% off, most are the cheapest I've ever seen them by far.
Black Friday sale at CSS. Up to 40% off.

How does the Madisound BF thing typically work? They send you a code that only applies to things in your wishlist or cart?
Items they offer up appear in 'specials' tab of the website. No rhyme or reason
If I remember correctly, last year they had a selection of drivers on sale for Black Friday and then added a few more for Cyber Monday.

I didnt know anyone here knew how to properly use shelfing boards. LOL
I'm holding out for a sale on a pair of these: https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-7-woofers-sb-acoustics/sb-acoustics-sb17mfc35-4-6-poly-cone-woofer/
And a pair of these: https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/tweeters/lpg-25nfa-1-textile-dome-tweeter/

That would be a very nice implementation- the low sensitivity almost requires multiples. Four in a series/parallel might be around 83db? https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/driveunits/tectonic-elements-tebm35c10-4-miniature-bmr-driver/#:~:text=The TEBM35C10-4 BMR® is an audio drive unit,Elements bending-wave technology and pistonic modes of operation.
I put those in a CBT 24 unit line array a few years ago.
Never got the EQ dialed in for them.... Still in boxes lol
I hadn't seen Erin's review - thanks for the link!
