  • I got a Blink video door bell / security cam bundle - normal price $300, Cyber Monday = $112

But Chahly - Stahkist don't want speakers that look good, Stahkist wants speakers that sound good!
  • I've been looking at unlocked Google Pixel 7, 8, and 9 pro models. Thinking of getting one to use as a camera only, without sim card. There are some deals out there, but prices are still too high. And I can only find availability & discounts for models limited to 128GB of internal storage memory. Newer phones have eliminated the use of an internal micro SD card to add additional storage!

I have a Pixel 8 and I can plug in a USB C flash drive and offload all my photos to it. You can get 256Gb flash drives relatively cheap. Not the same as internal storage but it would be one way to free up space on the phone. Another thing you should know is that almost all of the pictures on my phone are between and 1-10Mb with the largest being 20Mb.

  • Thanks for the info and links. I'll scope this out and see what I can come up with. Sad that the phone companies have decided to restrict internal memory like this.

Thanks for that link. I was out of storage on my iphone 128g, so I just upgraded to a newer model and 512g for a very reasonable price.

I’ve been wanting to play around with those little tectonic bmr drivers for awhile. The 2” are $7.98 ea. at PE, down to $6.70 quantity 4 or more. With the THANKS24 15% code, $5.70 each. So I got 14 and a few other odds and ends toget free shipping.

I got some to play around with. I've been eyeballing em for a while too. Might pair with the 8"DVC buyout woofers. Craig's current experiments have me thinking.

They tiny! The main body, excluding the screw hole bumps, is a hair over 2". The effective cone diameter is roughly 1.5". The mounting flange is so slim the screw holes are pretty much at the edge of where a cutout would be for front mounting, so unless you do some tricks with the opening, it seems like rear mounting is the ticket. I'm contemplating rear mounting to a larger flange/plate so it is easier to work into a cabinet.

  • Yeah, those make TC9s look beefy. ;)

  • Tiny indeed! I mean, yeah, it’s a 2” driver. But I admit I was not prepared- I checked to make sure I had not ordered the 1-1/8” by mistake. But yes, the main body is a hair over 2”.

  • If a guy was looking to buy Qty 8, 4 Ohm mids to configure as an MMTMM set on top of a dual opposed sub, so it would be a 2 and a half way probably aperiodic loaded with a large cap in series Fc around 120. I am waiting for a deal on some non China drivers to use in a future build with the Morel TSCT tweeters on my shelf. This will be my final build. Then I will retire from speaker building before my wife accidentally poisons me. Opinions on this Scan Speak 5.25? https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-5-woofers/scanspeak-discovery-15w/4434g-00-5.25-midwoofer-4-ohm/

That mid is pretty nice, imnsho. I paired it with an XT25 years ago and loved how it turned out.

    I have a signature.

  • Some of my words are BS. You guys have to sort through them.

  • The SB12MNRX2 should be in the running as well as the satori line.

    Steve_Lee
  • ^ Absolutely! That little thing is a gem.

That one's easy! You were joking about "accidentally."

    Steve_Lee6thplanetEggguy
  • Let me try this another way. Who out there in speaker land would not purchase these drivers but wait for a better deal? Remember It will be at least a year before I start this project. I need 8 to fulfill my design requirements of high sensitivity and a symmetrical radiation pattern. I also feel like they fit the budget. I spent just under 500 for the tweeters and that is what 8 of these would cost. Coincidence?

  • 2 Purifi PTT6.5M08 in a MTM would get you the efficiency you need. I don't know if 2 woofers is better than 4 for directivity. The woofer section is most likely going to be your pinch point for efficiency.

  • 4x per side would be a large c-c spacing. I wonder what that would do to the tweeter vertical dispersion?

  • Its gonna be a 2.5 way with a powered sub, the outer mids are just for BSC

  • I don't think my wife will kill me so its not that big of a big deal. I have at least a year to collect points.

Maybe we should start a thread ‘what speaker design/ set-up would you have in your living room sans WAF ???’

oops sry. If the tweets can go 2khz or below then the MAC05 might be a decent contender. The fat smooth trunk of -50db distortion below 2k is pretty formidable. And sofar the builds I've heard with it have been adorable to my ears (@a4eaudio I frigin love that little grey 2way!). But I bet the other guys have a better idea then me.

  • That was the TN25 too....

Sounds like a good Idea. However I cannot participate because I have a man cave.

  • I cannot find distortion measurements for the 15w/4434g

It isn't the most detailed distortion measurement but it does show that it is smooth without any major issues above 200 Hz

  • Thanks. I was hoping to see if or where 3rd ord is dominant but you don't always get what you want.
