This is on the deal of the day. I wonder how 2 would work in my tritrix TL enclosure? (The dayton classic 5.25" have issues with the foam.)

A pair of those should work pretty good in the TL tower. I used them a couple of years ago, and they will do allright in about 3/4 ^3 foot volume.

But Chahly - Stahkist don't want speakers that look good, Stahkist wants speakers that sound good!
  • I built a simple ported TM with those woofers last year. They are a great deal at that price. A pair in parallel per side should get stupid loud. No idea how they would work in that Tritrix TL . I had a single per side in about 1/2 cubic foot and they really needed a bigger enclosure.

  • And I think an MTM with those woofers and the Beast Mode tweeter could kick some serious azz.

    Agreed.

These are deeply discounted. Sound absolutely amazing. Was listening within a few minutes of opening the package.

I got a set at the discounted price, they sound nice, like the ambient aware feature.
Not sure how good the mic is, but I answered 1 call so far and had no complaints from the other side.

  • Should receive my pair next Monday,

  • Not a DOTD, but I just got an Open Box (not refurbished) Epique 5 1/2" sub driver from PE for $41. Don't know what I'll do with it, but couldn't pass it up. (And of course bought $59 more stuff to get free shipping!!)

  • As a side note, the price of Tang Band stuff went to the moon.

  • Yeah... $50 for some of the 3" drivers... Ugh....

  • Good thing I have enough really great drivers on my shelves to build speakers for the next 3 or 4 years... Funny, my two New Year's resolutions were to NOT buy any more drivers in 2022 and to start working out again... well at least I haven't bought any drivers yet :#

It's not too late Power Ride. Do 20 minutes tonight to get the ball rolling.
I paid $18 and change each, on sale, for the pair of W5-1158sm i bought many years ago.
The were in some news-paper-like sale flyer from PE that I have only seen that one time.

  • For those of you looking for cheap capacitors, Newark has some Kemet metalized pp film caps on special. 55uf = $2.46, 50 = $2.93, 17uf = $1.89, 6.8uf = $.97, and other values. Some are cheap some not, but these are np electrolytic prices. Don't be put off by the box shape, these are far better than np electrolytic.

  • Thanks for the heads up Nick!

  • Newark still has some of the JB poly caps at clearance prices, as well. Some of the harder to find values especially - 9.1uF and 4.3uF.

    I have a signature.
  • I've decided the PE website is useless and will no longer be buying from them.

  • I understand the sentiment, JR.

Demand is high while product is scarce - just quit buying for now.

Concerning the website at PE - they went smart-phone compatible and poured money into marketing to non-technical folks and left the techies in the dust - the site is not searchable for components like it used to be at all.

    BTW, Hi guys!

    :)

    Steve.

  • I don't care about the pricing nearly as much as how unusable the site currently is.

Got my batch of 55uF's from Newark today. Thanks for the tip, Nick! Nice little rectangular buggers. The 4 leads are solid .05" (16ga) x 1/4" tinned copper stubs designed for PCB type mounting. The leads are very solid and should work just as well as nodal tie points for point-to-point type connections. :)

  • Grab some of the Wima and compare the sound to the Kemet, please.

  • Wow! Was thinking about designing a lower cost 3 way project and was considering the SD215A-88 for the woofer. Crazy... they've gone up 25% since I last bought them! That's nuts.

Shipping costs have gone through the roof. I have a new one sitting on the shelf I'm not using if you want it.

Thanks Ron. Let me see if I can repo my second one from my son. He shouldn't need it as a sub anymore. The new GF180 project he and I built has BASS B)

  • I have a pair of sd270 8-8 that will probably never get used. If your looking for alternatives.

  • The Beston round planar is DOTD today. Combine that with Ken's SD270's, and you're well on your way to the Indium 7's or something like that...

Keep an open mind, but don't let your brain fall out.

  • I was thinking along the same lines. A lot of speaker for not much money.

  • AKG buds on sale again for anyone who missed the sale last time...
