These are fantastic little woofers and that is a great price. I have a design with these I listen to everytime I'm sitting at my work bench. I think JR also used these woofers in his Tiny Tims project.
Before they hit eBay figured I’d post them here first. Tang Band 5.25 subwoofer. Flat spider design. Pair like new I’m sure I used them for testing sometime. In original boxes.. $70 I’ll buy the ride in the US.
Yeah, the 1139 FERRITE are now $105 at PE too. When I specced these woofers' price for Monoculus they were $86 in June or July. I can remember the Neo version first on the market at $45. Then the Neo spike hit and didn't totally recover. Everything is super expensive now.
It's a shame those TB subs have become so expensive. At their prices 5-10 years ago, the 1138 and 1139 were fun options when you wanted a lot of bass in a small cabinet. I still have a pair of the Ferrite 1138's.
I would like to do something like a redo of the Hafniums. The biggest issue with that design was the port, which was either too big to fit or too small to avoid chuffing. Power handling was also somewhat limited when trying to actually play sub 30 Hz. The SB 5x8 passive radiator models quite well with the 1138 and might solve both problems.
Keep an open mind, but don't let your brain fall out.
Yes, it does model well. I've thought about a small bookshelf using just that setup, but the sensitivity gets too low. It is more or better suited to an active sub with 50W on tap, and PaulC's Voxel could be adapted to work with that PR methinks. The sensitivity reason was why I went with the Peerless in my Purveyor.
Hey Brad! I need more drivers like I need a hole in the head but I’ll take the Dayton 6.5” classic and the RSS210. I don’t have PayPal but I can Zelle pay by CC through your web site or mail check. 😁
