    AI A Star is Born

Been going on for a while now - check these links from Rick Beato's site:

  • The pace of ‘advancement’ and adoption.
Raises concerns, sure. Where to draw the line, and by whom?

But gotta say I was taught and learned from emulating predecessors (reading, writing, drawing, and rith-matic)… I learned my tennis game from reading and watching Laver, Connors, Natratilova, Ashe… Maybe if I had monetized it they’d be asking for a cut.

  • i love Rick's videos and interviews, he's a real musician/producer and not just some opinionated 'influencer'. His interviews with Brian May and David Gilmour are well worth an optic.

But you put in the work to learn from others and improve your skills. Rick is just showing that some people aren't doing the work at all to learn. They just ask Chat GTP or whatever AI to do all the work and spit it out. Big difference IMO.

Yes, and that’s what I thought when schools began letting kids use calculators in math class- Times, they are changing…

  • One more for good measure . . .

  • I’ve noticed listening to my speakers sounds better without my reading glasses on, even when my eyes are closed… Makes me put down my iPhone and just listen and enjoy. 😁

Just like tuning out the world with headphones sitting on the drums and letting my body go with the flow and just listening to it all happen with my ear/mind . . .

  • Eh, I'm old enough to remember when DAT was the end. We will get past AI.

Yes, and that’s what I thought when schools began letting kids use calculators in math class- Times, they are changing…

With one very important distinction - [In the late 60's early 70's] Using a calculator they still had to learn and understand the thought processes involved in keying-in the critical data - took learning/effort /experience to accomplish that seemingly simple feat.

AI-smart isn't the same as experienced/educated/productive-smart. (Or is it???).

I can imagine a lot of things but I cannot manifest them without putting-in the effort in making that happen in the physical realm and capturing it for others to experience - AI tools are just a convoluted Dream-like state of plagiarized thoughts and idea's derived from the query of the culmination of mankind's' collectively documented experiences and thoughts. (Kinda like the current information addled human existence is these days).

    Hmmmmm.
    HHHMMMMMmmmm - some- more . . . .

    What is reality?

What if you could create an animal that had a basic nervous system and was capable of sustaining itself with a minimal instruction set and you could make money off of its existential needs and then give it a separate brain/thought process that you could control/manipulate whereby you could also add to its perceived existential needs list?

Could you farm them with all sorts of contrived solutions to their contrived perceived needs?

Don't get me started on on what the "apple" from the tree of knowledge in the GOE probably/likely was in the physical sense . . . . they were warned . . .

. . . After further thought progression I have arrived at the place where the calculator/PC/Neural-Net/AI thing is just a continuation and expansion of the collective human intelligence/experience minus the ego (for the most part). [ack - Andy/JR]
This is ultimately a good thing for us as a species if we can individually discern/be taught where to apply our own individual focus at the right times in our lives while using these intelligence leveraging technologies.

What satisfies the individual human soul more than manifesting the best that it can accomplish with its flesh and mind in unison? [Selah/Cogitate for a bit on that].

AI in concert with physical (body/mind) in motion are no more than the calculators introduced to the 70's era human collective experience are today. (Consider for a moment the Metronome's imaginings 810 AD and subsequent invention/employment into piano music in the early 1800's . . . https://www.thepiano.sg/piano/read/history-metronome
is but one contemporary example of this. Is it AI? or was it considered AI at the time?

    See?

I came from an ^ ego-centric viewpoint [AI antagonist] to the adoption/acceptance [proponent] of this so called AI within the last several posts and didn't lose my mind nor temper. =) [rare for a crabby old man].

. . . Now, where are some cool sounding AI musicians that I can employ my drumming and mixing skills upon (and they don't have to be AI based - just some talented REAL musicians in the flesh would challenge the hell out of this "AI" stuff.) . . .
IF people/humans don't step-up, AI will replace our will to do so . . . Like "Drum Machines" and now PC based pattern sequencers have done to my 1st love of the art of percussion instruments . . . Yet I clutch my sticks with purpose and desire to keep living for the opportunity to be recorded playing the world's ultimate groove . . .

    WHY??? (you might ask).

Because humans will and do demand it - Supply and demand. Simple economics brought to you by the entropic heat death of our host's expanding universe/natural state of all things extant.

    Later.

  • I gave my friend pictures of some drivers and asked them to design a speaker (visually). They used ChatGPT to design the speaker without not knowing anything about diffraction, etc. All the designs began looking like B&W then the Minions.

I have not used Chat GPT, but could try additionally providing specific goals, drivers, etc. and see what it comes up with. If I’m reading you correctly it sounds like it interestingly focused on diffraction issues, leaning towards the B&Ws. It would also be interesting to see if, based on a low end goal; quality and/or frequency target, if it comes back with a sealed/ ported / PR based upon your goals and drivers.

When I used Grok it wasn’t for visual design, more for the ‘maths’. It starts by restating provided inputs (drivers, box size, driver layout, etc) and target goals, takes you thru its ‘thought’ process, provides sources, calculations… and provides a few alternatives along the way. I didn’t ask it to visually design a speaker, but if Grok knows me the speakers would come back having’ ‘good jeans’.

If you give it a bunch of dog photos, telling it they are horses each time. Guess what you'll get when you ask it for a horse picture...

I bet B&W and even the minion speakers from a few years ago showed up a bunch in search results at some point so that might have alot of influence for the reference.

  • I'm putting together a writeup for the project gallery, but am having difficulty explaining some of the concepts. I wonder if Grok could help me with directivity and spinorama questions?

It can help...it will summarize information from the Internet, and summarize it pretty well... The key is that you have to be able to know what is right and wrong. My guess of that you DO know enough about directivity and Spinorama to weed out the incorrect info. Also, if you are okay with 90% of the information, taking the time to do a little more digging on 10% rather than 100% of the issues is a much better prospect.

  • Long-ish time ago I worked for real estate industry company, in the dot com era, where was using a specialized neural network called HNet that used root loci vectors for strength of variables as well as some genetic algorithms to find best trainings. In short, learned most all prediction models dependent on quality of data fed for training. Where I start to wonder about what chatgpt and other NLM's are trained on, what is out there on interweb? purchasable datasets? Like mentioned, and some other demo's vendors have shown us at work, answers bounded by what information is available so great for summarizing and again need the consumer of this information to understand the cause n effect told. I just see the understated ability for people to think outside of the box, or just plain creativity or cleverness that human mind can provide.

  • Most of the feedback seems to be a general summary type, assembled from various on-line forum threads. This type of info is somewhat limited in value to me, since I have read many of these threads and already know how to generalize about most of this stuff. As I try to complete my writeup, the problem I'm having is trying to explain why I am a rule breaker, and why I insist on going down non-traditional rabbit holes to reach my design goals.

If the link doesn’t work for you, I can copy and paste. Also I just put in a generic question to describe these concepts- so nothing specific
