Switching phone carriers - what a pain this is turning out be. Verizon has been overcharging us for months and they have screwed up our account. I'm the Account Owner and pay the bills, but somehow, I'm not listed as an Account Manager. Online support couldn't fix that issue. I hate going into the store - it's worse than the lines at the DMV. I don't have hours to waste on a weekend. Time to dump them and try someone else. But now I'm having problems getting the PIN I need to move our accounts!!
I Switched 4 lines from Verizon to AT&T yesterday. I've never had cellular with anyone other than Verizon for 15 years. I've been pretty satisfied with Verizon's customer service but we don't get much coverage at the house we moved into 4 years ago so we use wi-fi calling as default. But our wi-fi has gone out before, and where I would typically use my phone's hotspot for work related stuff, since we have such bad coverage I had to actually go park outside Starbucks to take some work calls.
AT&T saves us about $20 per month, which isn't huge, but still nice to save a bit. The transfer went smoothly. I went to the AT&T store and logged into my Verizon account and they were able to do everything efficiently BUT I did not have the "Account Manager" issue.

You can make an appointment and then there's no waiting. I've done it a couple of times.
I dumped verizon when my phone died and they refused to activate a spare I had to get me by (same model). I'm not going to pay their premium if they are going to leave me hanging like that.
I switched to walmart's familymobile and been paying $60/mo for both my wife and mine for several years now. I think we only have 3GB of data each, but I don't use much and she connects her phone to our home and her work wireless anyway. They don't have anyone in-store to talk to so that isn't even an option. The couple of times I needed to call support they did the job adequately without a problem. They were on Tmobile network, but Verizon may have bought them in the past few years. I don't remember
My wife signed up for a craft show next Saturday. One of the items she made are gumball machine looking treat containers from clay pots/saucers and a glass globe. I gave advice on the paint and helped out. But now that they are together these things are cracking me up! Put in gumballs, cookies, dog treats. Whatever.
I insisted on doing an old school bright red one. I kindof want to steal it for my desk and dump a bag of peanut M&Ms in it.... but they would last a week tops. Then I'm even more fat.
Wonder if that inspired Gumballhead (3 Floyds Brewing)
Anyhoo, The gumball machines seemed like it would be neat for the home pub I wish I could have. Put individually packaged mints in it, or nuts/pub mix etc. No futzing with a real gumball machine mechanism. The top is a lid like it was a cookie jar, simple. Normally I think this stuff is chintzy, but this one tingles my nostalgia for some reason. It took a surprising amount of searching around different stores to find pots and saucers and glass bowl/globes that matched proportions. The pots were from Amazon actually. None of the local shops had the right size.

I just bought a MiniDSP 2x4 HD for $300.
I’ve been hoping for a 2x4 HD balanced (the 2x4 HD has been great, but its RCA) looks like I’d need to go with their miniDSP Flex and just leave the gain control at 11.
I do hope that we see more electronics made in North America. I have sourced custom made boards much more complicated than a mini dsp from American and Canadian board houses . Assembeled without a housing for $170 in fairly low quantities. I think Schitt is doing a great job of showing that the USA can be competitive when we try. Some of the work that the Canadian board houses are doing is top of the line quality at Asian prices. Outside of the audio industry Spark fun and Ada Fruit are doing a lot of USA manufacturing keeping their cost competitive and they support their product really well.

My Son and I are going fishing tomorrow morning. First time out for us this year. We're taking a friend of his from school who has never fished before. Luckily we have an extra pole and reel for him. I sure do hope the fish are biting. Never a good first experience spending a couple hours without even a nibble. "Our" private catch and release pond was a sure thing a year ago, but poachers have come and kept all the large mouth bass and threw the blue gills on the grassy bank to just die. They also leave all their beer cans and trash everywhere. Very obvious posted signs that say "Private Property", "No Tresspassing", "No Fishing Allowed", and "Surveillence Cameras Installed" don't do jack crap to deter them
Thats some bullshit there. There is a reason why you stock bluegill in a bass pond. If I was the owner of that pond Id be pissed. I know its not cheap stocking your own pond. That being said , good luck . A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Good luck fishing tomorrow! For me, fishing is right up there with audio as my favorite hobby. I got the boat out a little over a week ago for the first time this year and last weekend I changed the oil, filter, plugs, and lower unit lube. I catch and release everything unless I'm lucky enough to snag a keeper walleye or enough decent sized panfish for a meal. I don't think I've ever kept a largemouth for eating. It saddens me when I see trash that others leave behind.
Last year my Son and I would bring a garbage bag with us and we made a pact, no fishing until each of us picked up at least 10 pieces of trash. He really took to that. I get it that some of that trash just blew in from the nearby roads. But when you find empty night crawler containers and such...

Couldn't resist. Had to see how a freestander would do.
Tom Servo!!
Huge fans in this household.
The Fly!
I love that they have a YouTube channel that's MST3K live 24/7🤘🏼
Some real feedback on tariffs . . .
Looking at pricing today:
PlutoTV has a channel dedicated to them as well
Production still from "This Island Earth" famously riffed by MST3K.

Thought this was a "no politics" thread?
As long as we don't make it a political statement, so far it is just an observation.
I just bought a MiniDSP 2x4 HD for $300.
I bought my first one in November 2019 for $205 and a second one in October 2021 for $250.

What did you do with the other 4?

How large is the pond?
A bit larger than a football field.
