As far as I know, the foil has suspension along the perimeter and handles much higher power. I'll update as more details become available. Dmitri is showing RT850 on Moscow high end audio show and should be back in 3-4 days.
There are may be 2 versions of the tweeter. One with wave guide, one without. As far as distortion goes, 145 will cross at 2khz without wave-guide. I can't wait to get a pair to play around.
At this point the tweeter undergone field testing. The composite foil and mounting are finalized and it's going in to production. The first distortion sweep is taken at 1V. Note that the sensitivity of the GRT145 is in the upper 90db. Second distortion sweep is taken at over 5V! It looks like it'll be able to cross around 1600hz. That's borderline revolutionary for a small size ribbon.
I will be getting first production pair in 3 weeks and will post my own data. Intended sale price will be between $350 and $400 a pair. As I've done before with RT850, first few people who are interested in trying, testing, publishing and commenting will be given a very serious discounts.
While I haven't listen to the GRT myself yet, high order distortions look similar to Beryllium SS and lower order looks similar to conventional domes.
