So, after living with these for awhile… your thoughts on the ESS Heils?
I see that Pure Audio Project crosses these over to a pair of 10s, stating first order series 700 Hz, which seems to be a bit of a stretch- but apparently not? If so, that’s impressive. I’ve leaned towards trying to keep crossovers out of the 1-4ish kHz area, and finding (excluding coaxial designs) the higher Xover makes integration of mid to tw difficult. Maybe I should be looking at going under.
Where would you draw the line, is a first order (maybe 800Hz) possible, or better 3rd order hp?
800hz is the point where the distortion just starts to rise, so if you crossed it there 2nd order all should be well.
It's a very clean driver. I like it a lot, in fact I was going to buy another pair a few months ago, but at the time the shipping was $75 which irritated me so I didn't go through with the order.
Thx, I'm sold.
Easy enough to swap in and out with my latest build (1.5 way sealed bass, top box interchangeable) and size-wise, relative to my AudioNirvana box, will still tuck in behind the front grill.

Thanks, I need to finish a couple that need paint, and this winter I plan on starting a CBT.
