The 2nd order distortion is approximately -50 db at 20khz at 95 db output, so if my math is correct that's roughly 0.3%. I consider that on the low side
I was asked a few times at Indy, what I had fortuning frequencies of the box, and I didn't recall, too much time had passed and other projects started. here's the impedance graph to answer the tuning question.
I should also mention that the 2 ports are not the same length, I adjusted them for the flattest response.
It's copper buss bar I got out of an old electrical panel. I rounded the corners, polished it up a bit and put a bend in the center to match the tweeter top. It's not much bend, maybe 40 thousandths or so.
Did love how cohesive the heil's were from 1k up. My lack of craftsmanship excellence compared to many others or uniqueness feel would keep me out of placing but I don't care, it's more a personal endeavor to make speakers to please my ears and heart, which think, thanks to y'all has been achieved, for now. Speaker events for myself to confirm I'm not crazy heh. And as in any obscure hobby, it's great to hear other people's thoughts and ambitions, to a degree heh. Hope to relax more and mingle more this SDC.

My hearing is all done by 15k.
Maybe, but systems doing 14kHz and beyond cleanly, (if I can borrow from Buzz Lightyear) are somehow uniquely perceived.
It's the upper 2nd order harmonics filling out the sounds in a more natural way . . .
Sweet! Looking forward to these units😎

I just realized that the response graph didn't have a vertical scale, it's 3db/div, not the 5db/div that seems common.

that’s a pretty wild looking impedance graph
I couldn't leave the stock ESS mount, it just wasn't me. This is what I came up with.
That looks great !
Thats sharp! Is that machined copper ?

Dopeness!
Did you shoot it with a bit of clear so it doesn't turn green?
I just used some S100 anti oxidation on it. I might clear it later.
Clear them, while they are still shiny and pretty like that. Trust me.
I used a product called Everbrite on the copper parts on my first speaker build.
I made some progress. The backs and bottoms are painted.
what paint are you using?
Hot rod Matt Black from Summit Racing. It's just a single stage urethane.
Looks sharp sir
Thank you
Now they look almost as good as they sound! They just sounded that good. I wouldn't be opposed to cloning it for myself.
The woofer subtly peeking thought the grill cloth is pretty cool effect too.
Looking good, Nick! Are these going to MWAF?
Thanks, if you ever want to build a set, I'll post all the dimensions.
Yeah, this is my entry. I'm happy they're finished before the last second. Lol
They look great - well thought out and executed
Great build! Are you planing on feet or risers?
