I've always appreciated the Alice In Chains Unplugged album, but ribbons really seem to make the acoustic guitars and percussion come alive. No Excuses for example.

  • SilverDude - is channel #7 inverted AND disabled in the image above or can you explain what is going-on, please?

Those cabinets look great and I'm so pleased that you have discovered the magic in ribbons (Try dome mids next).

    Agree!

But Chahly - Stahkist don't want speakers that look good, Stahkist wants speakers that sound good!
  • Steve, I had the sub muted in the last screen shot.
Here it is enabled, but I have it reverse polarity from the Bariums as there was cancelation. Like the 0 - 180 switch on sub plate amps.

Channel 7 is inverted from 6 as they make up the balanced input for the sub amp. What you don't see is that both channel 6 and 7 are a sum of the L (channel 0) and R (channel 1). You can also see the level matching between the tweeter and woofer on the mixer tab.

I'll be focusing on completing the Quarters soon (Morel dome mid) and then refurbing the "speakers stands" you see above into 3-ways with both ribbons (NeoCd3.5H) and dome mids (DM-7500 in 3D printed waveguides that I hinted at in one of your threads).

  • Excellent - thanks for the clarification - looks like you are employing PC based DSP solution - care to elaborate upon this? (intrigued).

  • Steve, I'm running CamillaDSP software on a raspberry pi, but it can run on other devices as well. It sits between the WiiM Pro and my amplifiers to capture the digital audio stream, split it into 8 channels, and apply the filtering of my choice. I access the GUI from a web browser on my network. It's neat being able to have Omnimic up on one laptop and CamillaDSP on another and see the changes I'm making real time.

  • What is your input and output interface(s) for the Raspi?
I've always had trouble with my Raspis losing power and corrupting the file system. How have you fixed that?
    Thanks!

  • I was using a Hifime S2 Digi to capture optical, but switched to a Scarlett 6i6 which has coax in as I was getting noise on one channel and swapping cables and settings didn't seem to help. If I didn't need more than 4 channels, I could use the Scarlett outputs. I have a hifiberry Dac8x hat on the pi. I will backup my configurations for CamillaDSP in the event of a corrupt SD card. That way I just have to rebuild the pi and put my configurations back on. I could also make a copy of the SD card if I settle on a configuration.

  • Sweet looking.

  • Nice view!

  • Thanks everyone, I appreciate your input and comments. They do sound good.

  • That chair looks super comfy. Where did you get it?

  • It's an MCM style from Amazon - Chita

  • Ok I’ll look any complaints about it? I am in need of a good seat in my listening room. Preferably 2, I figured a bean bag sofa would be good for a listening room lol.

  • The first one they shipped didn't go back up when it reclined so they sent me another top. I fixed it so I now have a spare once this one gets worn. We got it on sale, but not sure I'd buy the same one again.

  • Search for an Eames chair. An original will cost an arm and a leg but there are a lot of people making afordable options.
