  • I think @Ron_E has used 3d printed templates...

  • I use psa double sided tape on my templates. When I started using this technique I was worried it would come loose, haven't had it happen yet. Recently I tried masking tape on both sides and superglue in place. That worked equally well. The masking tape was kind of nice in that I could add some really nice layout lines without marking on the baffle.

I've just started using them, but I've been using wooden ones for years. I mount the driver and put the template over it stuck to the baffle with double stick tape that's made for woodworkers. Then I remove the driver and cut the rebate with a top bearing bit.

You can 3d print a shim if the rebate depth is too deep. You can also 3D print gaskets with TPU filament.

    Port and tweeter gaskets.

  • Making our way back from California visiting out oldest and his fiancé. Perfect weather in Tehachapi and it's a nice little town. Have a layover in Denver now. Did quite a bit of crazy canyon driving yesterday. Even the straight roads had amazing views.

Can verify. It's one off my old zip, circa '03 to '07-ish.

  • I have the Makita and I like it well enough. The pin to the shaft hole doesn't line up so it's two wrenches to loosen and tighten bits. One youtuber reviewed it and preferred the dewalt compact router. The depth adjustment is not great.

Not the Zip code, the odometer reading.

  • This was a long term project that I just finished. For those who aren't familiar with it, it's a Pearl 3 phono preamp designed by Wayne Colburn who has been with Pass Labs forever.

  • Probably add some unexpected character to the wort with all the spring-time spores/pollen in the air . . . What is this batch called?

Yeah there is a lil bit of local flavor from the pine tree flowers that blew in the boiling wort. Don't have a name for it currently. The wife wanted to try another bourbon ale but with cherry. Ever since Lexington Brewing had a limited release of their "Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Tart Cherry Wheat" (an absolute masterpiece of a dessert beer IMO) she has been craving anything similar since.

4lb pale malt, 6lb red malt (all extract) wyeast 1272 "All American Ale" liquid yeast pack, shooting for a dark amber. Probably end up around 6% abv before fortification.. Could end up double digits abv once bourbon is added. I thought about dumping in a bottle of Red Stag just before bottling. But the unknown amount of sugar in a liqueur makes it a crapshoot estimating further priming sugar needs to carbonate the bottle. I may stick with a regular bourbon and get some cherry flavoring to add.

This morning was a whole lot of nothing going on. But by mid-day I could see some little bits of krausen gathering.

And now the first act is on

  • Hatchet day at work. I'm still employed, but 2 other producers from our market were let go, along with my boss. When I started this job in 2004 TV advertising was booming and the equipment was fairly expensive. We had 10 people in the Production Dept here in Eastern Iowa and now we're down to just two of us.

Can't the TV advertisement transition over to the streaming ads? Even paid streaming channels are full of ads and they are increasing in number that you are forced to watch - can't skip. Is it a skillset / euipment thing or marketing issue?

Edit: and there also seems to be localised ads as I get ads from local car dealers and such based on where I am watching or logged in from - not just youtube, but also Prime, Netflix, Tubi

  • We now sell far more digital ads than anything else. Cable is dying off more every day, but I think most of what I do now ends up on Facebook & YouTube. The problem is, thanks to technology leveling the price of entry, anybody with a computer and iPhone can make a decent commercial. That has cut into our client base. Our sales people even build a lot of graphical ads using templates. I'm really lucky that I have a few bigger clients and some agencies that value higher quality video production.

I have already and I'm sure many others have. The "Flag" option to the right of the post date/time just under the name.
