CSS Detroit DIY 2025 - Sept 19th-20th

It's that time of year again folks. Still getting the details together for Saturday (Sept 20th), but Friday (Sept 19th) will be a casual day/night at the CSS facility, per usual. Kerry and I will be "working" that day, but you're all welcome to come and socialize as early as desired. Stay tuned.

  • That's great Dan! Thought it was not happening this year. Will try to visit if i can, would like to see CSS setup and the listening room you have.

  • Faaack, I booked a vacation in Vegas that weekend several months ago. I’m gonna miss it.

  • You could always show up the Friday prior... ;)

Nope I learned my lesson last time! I propose October 1st.

  • Think gonna go this year, conflicts came up in years past. Maybe I put a flask of bourbon in my pocket, liquid talking juice, so I open up and talk more heh. Not sure what bring yet, thinking of buford's (8inch 2way) I had at sdc25 but no peer feedback to know if improving. But kind of ran the gamut learning what works well in my listening room, though open new can of worms if switched rooms. Familiar with both the consumer side and diy side. Luckily that itch to experience different approaches/designs hasn't faded.

  • If they get the same room as previous. It seemed closer to square or maybe even wider than deep.

  • I wish I could swing this. I feel like I am definitely missing out on things.

    I have a signature.
  • Hate to say it, but the smaller turnout size (compared to other events) on Saturday makes it more fun and laid back to me.

  • Missed last year but should be able to attend this year. Looking forward to it!

    Ditto

  • Where's the event held and where do ppl usually stay. Trying to figure out logistics

  • I've got like one billion and one irons in various fires, but I'm scoping out time off and a possible train trip. I'd love to catch up with you guys; time will tell!

  • I had planned on attending this year and also spend some time with my sister and BIL who lived only 20 minutes away. But they unexpectantly upped and moved to Texas about 2 months ago... the 6 hour drive plus driving through Shitcago puts a nix on this trip :(

It has been here (below) the last two years. @DanP @NavyGuy can jump in if they are thinking of a different location this year.

Home 2 Suites by Hilton Northville - Detroit
    47450 W Five Mile Rd
    Northville, MI 48168

This should be the spot, but the hotel is being a little unesponsive this year, so it's not 100% locked in at this location yet. For anyone who wants to book here though, it's a safe bet as it's only a couple miles from the CSS headquarters.

As always, Friday will be a casual hangout at our shop (929 Irvin St, Plymouth, MI) with informal speaker demos for anyone that wants to haul their speakers up the stairs (it's not too bad with the dolly). We get there at 9am and will probably wrap up our work day around 4-5pm and then hang until midnight. MAC/DIY members are welcome to come any time on Friday. Responsible drinking is encouraged and we'll order pizza around dinner time.

Saturday 9am-6pm will be the more formal demo at the hotel room. 5 min of house music and 5 minutes of builder's choice, usually just grabbed from Tidal, but we'll try to have a CD player and/or USB input for thumb drives if anyone wants to bring something pre-made.

  • Likely day trip for self n wife on Sat - about 3hr drive. Would come up Friday as invitations to drink tempting heh, though I'm worn down these days (something happens once break 50) and budget consciousness with wife in between work.

2 diff speakers ok? though more looking forward to picking peoples brains and just general down to earth chat.

You can bring as many speakers as you want, but if we run out of time (not likely based on past experience), we'd give priority to making sure each builder got to show at least one pair.
