The world can be sad and happy and fucked up all at once. For me, music helps me cope with things that are huge. This song helps me cope with my own mortality.
A little maudlin for many, but I spend a lot of time pondering this shit. Thought I would share a tidbit of what makes me tick.

GREAT album. I really love this interview he gave on Letterman
Here's another one, not going to go in to too much detail but it resonates with me.
Following this music as therapy vein, my wife has Alzheimer's and the progression has become apparent over the last couple of years. We recently finished filling in the gaps of a "greatest movies of the past 50 years" list. However, it was more than a bit frustrating for each of us when she couldn't remember what we had watched the night before, or couldn't recall characters from the beginning to the end of a show.
Music, however, has been an invaluable resource. Whether it's a live show streaming or on disc, streaming off SiriusXM or Airplaying a custom playlist from the library, it never fails to be a mood lifter for both of us. It's a resource I'll go to as often as it's practical to do so in the times ahead.
Music connects me to the universe and stimulates the pleasure centers of my being - I'm sure those with an ear for it share a similar perception.
Therapeutic, music is.
Another step into the heavy room. James McMurtry (son of Larry McMurty, author of Lonesome Dove which I still need to read)

That's some f'd up stuff he is singin' about . . . Loved the guitar pattern/progression . . .
Y, here’s another. Not all his stuff is so Debby downer, but I love this one. And the whole album actually.

All Things Must Pass, George Harrison
In My Life, The Beatles
Not Dark Yet, Bob Dylan (especially the cover by Shelby Lynne and Alison Moorer)
The Wind Cries Mary, Jimi Hendrix
Angel, Sarah McLachlan
Better Make it Through Today, Eric Clapton
