What is the 'best' fabric tweeter with a price ceiling of $100 ea.
I am very particular when it comes to off-axis performance. It will need to hit 1.7k with ease.
Please keep it to ones you've worked with or heard.
Thanks

I'm going to break your rule, but only because I think you might be interested in this one. The SEAS Prestige Titan 27TAC/GB (H1825) Aluminum/Magnesium is available at Madisound and sounds good and is well regarded. But SEAS also introduced a fabric version of the Titan and while Madisound does not carry it, Solen does.
Under $100 and likely LR2 at 1.7k? That takes a really robust sucker, and not likely under $100. You can likely find a few more that will do 1.7k/LR4, but not LR2.

I would have recommended the 27TAC/GB, but he said textile, and I have not heard the newly released 27TFC textile version. It would be my pick as well.

How wide an off-axis flatness are you looking for?
1,700Hz at what angle?
(Does edge diffraction not matter?) . . .
This is the SB26ST-C000-5 (Fs 870 Hz)
It may make the 1.7k but will require some fancy dancing to achieve it and I don't know how it will sound that low.
Brad (jfcomponents.com) is currently selling a couple variants of the 30mm Wavecor fabric domes for a very good price. The waveguide version would have about as good a chance as anything of handling a low crossover point.
Keep an open mind, but don't let your brain fall out.

I was thinking of that one as well as the STAC, but thought the xover and slope would be stretching it...

SB29 non dimple seems to have a bit lower resonance. I think I've heard it in someone's build and liked it. Off-axis looks to keep closer to the on-axis profile.

The small form factor SB ring radiator, $71. Superb on all fronts.

That looks pretty good out to about 11k

However, LR2@1.7K is still a tall order.

I used that tweeter in my Tube Speaker project and liked it.
