Both are wired up and the prototype xos are solder tacked together. I'll start voicing them tomorrow afternoon. They are beasts (physically). Hope they end up sounding as huge as they look!
Sitting in my comfy recliner listening to these mini line arrays. After an hour and a half, 4 initial impressions:
The top end doesn't sound nearly as rolled off as an on axis measurement shows.
Way better bass than what the modeled F3 of 56 Hz would suggest. However, a sub would help.
They image extremely well!
These bad boys are 93 dB/1m/2.83V! Almost pro audio like.
These are keepers. Their distortion is so low that I found myself listening to them much louder than I normally do. Never scrambled for the remote to turn them down.
I just listened to these again for an hour and a half with my RSS315HF/Bash300 sub turned all the way up. Didn't do my hearing any favors but WOW was that fun!!! Reminded me of my good old car audio days with the kick drum hitting me in the chest! Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, The Cult, etc. Glad the old lady next door didn't call the cops! lol
93db/w is pretty much 12" PA woofer territory after some baffle step.
Every once in a while I look into trying a short line. Cost usually gets in the way. I've got a case of 830855s burning a hole, and those JF tweets do look like good bang for buck.

I forgot to mention, these things absolutely fall apart when you stand up. They have to be at ear level or there is no treble.
Possibly try setting them on very low tilted-up stands? Not great for an Indy presentation (i.e. multiple rows of chairs) but may be able to span ear height seated and standing somewhat in your room?
Nah. I never listen standing up, only sitting in my comfy recliner. They sound good just sitting on top of my Indy theme speakers so I may build 16" tall stands for them.
I loved these! All the dynamics and punch. Directivity that lets you hear the recording rather than the room... even from where I was standing towards the back of the room at Indiy. Was like I was front and center. Get alot of the plusses of PA style stuff, but with less minuses.
Thanks Drew! I had a few people comment that they sounded like they played much lower than the simmed F3 of 60+ Hz indicated. They are ported but don't have the typical 24 dB/oct fall off a cliff slope. More like 15 dB/oct. With my 300W 12" sub they shake the house apart! I have a friend who loves his music at AC/DC concert levels... might just have to gift these to him. The sub will be extra

Please excuse the clutter:

Need more subs!

These coming to indy?
Yes, I think these are coming to Indy.

That is the one I use.

I am sad that I didn't get to hear them.
Ditto on capable of concert levels. No replacement for displacement👍🏻
Yes, these were a very interesting build.
