Bevenbi Capacitor Group Buy - Interest assessment thread

There was mention in a different thread about Bevenbi capacitors (which I had never heard of). They appear to be used in B&W speakers and have a good reputation from what I could fine. Of interest would be the Silver Series which are priced a little more than Clarity Cap, about twice that of Jantzen Standard Z-Cap, and a decent amount less than Audyn Plus.

  1. First question is, who would be interested in a Group Buy? I would interpret "interested" as more than 50% likely you would participate if the selection was suitable for you.

  2. Second question, what values would be a good standard set to buy?

  3. Third question, 250V or 400V?

Below is a table of some of the information I have gathered.

Prices are a little better on Aliexpress than eBay. However, Aliexpress only offers the 240V version, and only the values in light blue. The values in dark blue (those less than 1.0uF) are available on eBay. 400V are available on eBay only (at least I didn't find them on Ali), 0.10uF up to 12uF.

I selected some standard values and priced what a pair of each value would cost (this does not include shipping, tax, tariffs, etc.) Prices in the blue and green columns are a quick estimate, prices for a pair of each highlighted yellow and orange are at the bottom of the table. This is just to illustrate a possibility, I look forward to suggestion on what values people would prefer. The ones without a price are available, I just didn't want to spend too much time fully populating the table.

Just to be clear - a pair of 240V caps in each 1.5uF, 2.2uF, 2.7uF, 3.3uF, 3.9uF, 4.7uF, 5.6uF, 6.8uF, and 8.2uF caps would be about $200, so we aren't talking Dayton Audio or Audyn Q4 prices! If there is enough interest, I don't mind organizing, even though I may be too frugal to pull the trigger myself.

  • I don't typically use less than 3.3 or over 8.2 on tweeters as a ballpark, and more typically 4.7-6.8 range. Honestly, the 240V should be high enough voltage for the entire shift bottom to top of the AC swing. This is why 100V caps are the preferred bare minimum requirement. In my estimate, it's about +$25 to those values in 400V over 240V, so it's not a bad upcharge.

  • Try going to them directly David. I know that it's possible, because I know a guy who purchased the white caps and their coils. I can tell you that the coils aren't dipped and if you try to unwind them it's a problem.

  • Eva is my sales contact. Trust me a couple hundred dollar ain’t going to get you much. She is nice and I’ve been with her for years.

  • ^agreed

Also, the original thought was that getting 10 pcs of each would provide a discount and if even 5 people participated that would be a good reason for a (mini) group buy. But the qty discount isn't that big, so it may make more sense just to buy 2 or 4 caps as needed for a particular project at the individual prices.

I'll keep pursuing a Group Buy for now, it looks like 4 - 5 people are interested so far.

  • Yeah, I wondered about the Quantity discount compared to the number we would order.
Are these the caps that JuleFidelity has for sale?

But Chahly - Stahkist don't want speakers that look good, Stahkist wants speakers that sound good!
  • Looking at the color, I assume the ones with the blue ends (the "Silver" series) are not the same. And these, probably the 240V Silver Series, are what I am looking at on AliExpress. There is a modest discount for 10 pcs and AliExpress is a little cheaper than a seller on eBay.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ones with red ends are the same as JF, but that is up to Brad too disclose if he chooses.
