Yes, these are made with 6AWG wire. I found some marine grade fairly flexible tinned and multistranded 6AWG wire on Amazon. It had lots of great reviews, and the 30' length was perfect to cut in half for 15' lengths. (You'll need the big Klein style wire cutters for this stuff. Flush cuts and clippers need not apply. Stripping jackets was done by box cutter knife or flush-cuts.) I also found that the set screws they include with banana plugs become useless when the wire OD is the same diameter as the bananas' ID. I soldered the plugs to the wire through the set screw holes, which seemed to work rather well. It wasn't too hard to gather the strands and insert them into the plugs.
I used the same blue polypropylene/black PET (like JR used in his pair with spades) sheathing from superiorsell2014 on ebay, as I had not used that color yet. Viborg has some spring tipped Deltron style bananas on Amazon for $10 for a set of eight. The ends are sheathed in cheap Amazon PET for polarity identification. The speaker end is split further to accomodate wider spread binding posts, so that is why they are labeled which end is which. The other strand is soon to be finished too, but just got one done and had to show it.
Those look great! I'm no cable guy but I would imagine those would cost at least 5 times more if purchased comercially vs what you paid in the cable and various parts. Maybe 10 times more?
Just had a random thought... Would be nice to have little clips on the cable near the "Y" so you could bend back one of the poles and hook it in to be more sure of no touching. IDK, maybe modern amps "should" be able to handle it, but it doesn't stop me from worrying about it. Especially after needing to replace my Pioneer reciever.. though I think that was more an issue with the HDMI side that went goofy.
