Black Black Sabbath 'Master of Reality' was the first music I heard on a good stereo.
    RIP

  • Didn't he just do his last show a couple weeks ago?

  • Yes.

    I have a signature.
  • Makes ya wonder what they had him on to get him though the last show.
    RIP Ozzy🤘🏼

  • I'm hoping he wanted to do that show, knowing it would be his last.

  • I heard that show raised 191 million for charity.

  • I hadn’t gotten into Sabbath yet, but when “Blizzard” dropped, I was all in. Then “Diary” follow up. Played the crap out of both (cassettes) in the ‘69 Olds with the 6x9’s on the rear deck and the 60w eq/power booster. Saw him in ‘83 and ‘84. And I actually enjoyed his reality TV show. “ I’m the prince of f’ing darkness and I gotta pick up the dog shit for chrisakes”

Guess I'm in the minority here and will get some hate for my opinion... I couldn't stand him. His voice was like nails on the chalk board to me. His persona totally laughable. He was kind of like David Lee Roth to me. Didn't think DLR really sang very well either. Did either of them actually write any music or were they just front men maybe coming up with some lyrics?

  • As far as I know he did write some lyrics. Black Sabbath, Geezer wrote a lot of the lyrics. He did have a great way of singing a melody that worked with the music, probably his best talent. I feel he was a pretty good front man, not unlike DLR...who I personally can't stand either...but would say he's also a decent singer for a rock genre. Ozzy definitely knew what he was doing with getting the right band members and I'm sure Sharon had something to do with it too. Obviously to each his own, but hard to deny what he brought to the table.

  • They were both good at being entertainers/celebrities. They sure knew what the audience wanted. I was never a Sabbath or Ozzie fan. But I do appreciate his contributions to music in general, especially knowing the life of a touring musician isn't always easy. DLR - I can't imagine most of the early VH stuff without him singing it. Sadly, the fame fueled his ego.

I'm not trying to draw a line in the sand or pick a fight. We all like something different. For instance I realize that Bono's voice is nothing special or even disliked by many, but I still like some old school U2 songs (nothing after the Joshua Tree).

  • The roots of metal can't be denied; Ozzy and Zep both have large hands in it. That said, while I like some of their stuff, I don't own any of it.

    Roth? Blech. Van Hagar FTW!

Apparently that's a very popular song to play at funerals, at least in England and Oz

    Nice upload, thanks Gowa

    Geoff

  • They play that at the end of every Iron Maiden show.
