Arylic streamer good?

edited July 17 in Commercial

I just got my WIIM Ultra running, and it looks and sounds great, but my only streaming source is my phone, which uses Bluetooth to play music. This means that I can't leave the room (with the phone), or the music stops.
What I want is a high resolution streamer that can connect to Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon music, my local NAS music share, and then play that through my WIIM.
Can an Arylic streamer do this, do I need something else?
Don't want to set up another home theater PC or Raspi if I don't have to.
thanks!

But Chahly - Stahkist don't want speakers that look good, Stahkist wants speakers that sound good!

Use the Wiim app? It supports all those things. Get your Wiim and your phone on wifi, you don't need to use Bluetooth..

I'm not deaf, I'm just not listening.
  • As decibel mentioned, the wiim should handle all that and LMS with no problem.

  • Thanks guys! Could have checked that myself. Loving the Wiim Ultra.

  • Yeh, your going like the Wiim Ultra. It will be an insane improvement going from bluetooth phone to the tidal on the Wiim ultra. I did bluetooth to test it when I was setting it up then went to wifi and its been really good. I don't think you even need a preamp. Verify your streaming app of choice's bitrate is set to high. I just picked up a bluesound node 2i or something as well. Got it used and the previous user had the bitrate on the lowest setting so he probably didn't think it sounded great!

  • I have 2 of the Wiim minis and the Pro. I'm only using Tidal, and other than occasional connection issues with the Pro, I've been really satisfied with the Wiims. I sent an Arylic unit back because it wasn't a true endpoint - you had to use a subscription app.

I fucking HATE monthly subscriptions. thanks.

  • I have the Wiim ultra and looking to add the Wiim Vibe link. The Wiim amp ultra also looks good for an all in one.

Anyone know if the Wiim amp ultra is better than the vibe link? The power ratings are the same though the amp ultra is supposed to have dual amp chips.

They both look to have similar specs with PFFB. I didn't realize there was an amp ultra. I have a regular WiiM amp and enjoy it.

If your using optical or coax change your bitrate on the Wiim app in settings I think it defaults to 16bit. I was messing around in the software and it looks like wiim ultra has a subwoofer output you can turn on/off or completely bypass (run full range) as well as set up a crossover frequency 30-250hz, adjust level, phase (0 and 180) and has an option to "sync with your speakers" or manually adjust delay. The controller is nice to have instead of exclusively the app.

Plus you can EQ your mains as well. It has 10 bands and you can actually setup an EQ for EVERY INPUT and save it. I haven't tried the room correction stuff yet. I have 2 spare channels on my amp so I can add two smaller subs (I have two speaker stand RS210HF 8" subs) that would work perfect. This little guy was a great investment for me. Totally happy with it.

    For comparison
I have a bluesound node 2i as well the streamer allows a sub crossover 40-200 hz (no phase adjustment) and the basic adjustment of Tone controls Treble and Bass -6db to 6db. I haven't A/B'ed the two streamers directly but from a feature and looks standpoint the Wiim ultra wins in my book.

  • Thanks, dude. I really love my WIIM Ultra, but I noticed that getting TV audio from the TV via toslink optical caused a noticeable delay in the dialogs.

  • There is an audio sync feature at the bottom of the options menu too. I haven’t used it but that’s probably what it’s for. Your tv may have a way to tweak that delay too.
