I picked up one of the last Carrera kits from Meniscus as they were closing the doors a couple years ago. Took about a year to complete them. They sound(ed) great. Anyway, as I was moving some stuff around near the left speaker I realized that the tweet was not tweeting. Took it out to garage, pulled crossover out, everything looks good. Put a meter across tweeter terminals and - nothing. Crap 💩. I will try de-soldering and measure straight from cup to cup, but the solder connection looks fine. Any other thoughts? These speakers have very low, easy, miles. What’s really depressing is it took me being right next to one speaker to realize anything was wrong. From the listening position they still sounded pretty damn good. Probably mostly due to being 60 yo, and my hearing drops like a rock at 10k. Anyway, I am hesitant to pull the trigger on a new tweet, they are only available, as far as I know, in pairs from Ellis Audio- a pair is $317.

Update. De-soldered the wires out of the cup, still not continuity across terminals. Did some Dremel surgery and removed the back portion of the cup, everything looked ok. I did not try to take motor apart. Reached out to Dave Ellis (Ellis Audio), and he was SUPER helpful. Even though these are sold in matched pairs, he sold me a single. He did say that it is very rare for these tweets to die of natural causes, so I will be quadrupedal checking everything, and will also hook up a cheap spare tweet to make sure things are working normally before dropping in the new OW1. Anyway, thanks to Dave, the Carreras are soon to be on the road again. SUPER nice guy.
