  • That's only a couple ohms of swing, so not really a lot different than other ribbons.

  • Hey @Gowa can you post the PDF in here. I can see it but not download it. And thanks for getting it out quick, got a shipment notification from Canada post.

  • Free shipping in Canada and USA ends May 28.

  • Ani, did you use paypal or ? Sounds like several folks are getting a pair....seems like an opportunity to build together :)

  • Yeah used PayPal, it add another 10$ for "it's" conversion fee :o

  • You are based on Minneapolis? I live in Plymouth.

  • Yep, just ordered a pair.... ;) I'm in Arden Hills.
So, what woofer would pair well with this?

  • 2 or 3 way?

  • Any 6.5, 7 or a well behaved smooth 8" will do too.
Cross between 1.5 to 1.8khz. I do seem to have quite a few woofers in that size. Slim 3 way with 7" woofer or a fat stubby 8" 2 way? Money coffin with a 12" and 8"? I don't have any 12" woofers sadly, only subs, might have to substitute 2x10's.

  • 2 way: Motus 8 ;) RS225-8, Anarchy 7?
    PM180 with sub?
3 way: SB12CACS25, 10F - HF extension waste considering how low the Atlas can go?
    Anyone have suggestions?

If you are feeling spendy the motus 8 would be a great candidate. Unfortunately it's not in my cards right now, maybe later. Looks great for a 1.8k XO.

  • The 225 and anarchy would need low xo 1.5 would be ideal, maybe difficult passively. 3 ways would be great. The PM180 like a low xo around 2k or lower, so would be great. Smaller drivers, there are other ribbons that like to crossed higher say at 3k. The small round Rail is on sale if you have a 4" or3" or a dome mid in mind for 3.5 xo. I just got the small acrylic amt for a 3" mid.

I wouldn't sweat not crossing a tweeter low, pretty rare for a tweeter to sound better crossed lower than higher.

That being said, if you have the SB or the SS already, I would think the SB would make for a killer TM all on its own, or as the mid in a smallish 3-way. Awesome driver lineup, those SB ceramics are.

I have the same little Arylic tweeter just sitting around, bought when they had a 50% off sale. No idea what I'll be doing with them. Brad measured them on his IEC board and they look very nice down to 5K so hopefully your 3" has directivity to meet them.

  • ooops should have checked here first - no discount for me, but i was happy not to pay a premium!

  • My pair arrived safe and sound, very well packaged. Heavier than I expected.

  • JR, any ideas on what you plan on pairing them with?

  • No solidified plans but they would play nice with those 4" SB Acoustics/Aerial buyout mids I have floating around.

  • At this time I lack any smaller woofers that are not NLA.

What woofers do you have lying around or are eying? If you want to go Motus, all 3 should work, 5.5, 6.5 and 8. All the SB ceramics would make a really nice pairing, 4, 5.5, 6.5 and the 8 in a stretch (may need to go active with steeper filters). the 4" will do 40ish F3 and the 5.5 does 35Hz F3. Make a high quality bookshelf with the ribbon and 5.5" CAC, the 4 ohm is currently on sale.

  • I am also not eyeing any additional drivers.

  • I was asking SilverD =)

  • Was eyeing the blemished L16RN-SL at Madisound, but thankfully someone saved me from buying them.

  • I could pull some 15S/8531K-01 out of another set of speakers....

    THIS^^
And post a build thread :)

  • Hi end, high value mini monitor, would be sweet! Due to the high overlap, XO flexibility is also there.

  • The Recession Buster Reference cabs these are in are rather deep to support the port. I can look into the modeling with a PR as well.

Contemplating the use of 1.16 cu. ft. knock-down cabs and "veneering" the top and sides with leftover engineered rift and quartered white oak flooring and painting the front and back baffle with leftover paint that was used in the same room.

  • Mine showed today. Beautiful packaging and build quality. I will share my next build (IowaDIY) with these in a new thread.
