Extron xpa 1002 70v

edited February 1 in DIY

Do to an ebay shipping error I now have an XPA-1002-70. Seller took care of me and just reqested I properly recycled it. Anyone know the the difference between the 70 v and the 4-8 ohm? This is a very nice board and I would like to save it if I could.

  • Need transformers at the speakers to use that amp but the good news is that you can have the amp in the house and about 1/2 mile of speaker cable out to the boat dock where your speakers are . . .

You could check to see if there are step-up transformer(s) in the audio output circuit of the amp that could be removed, otherwise it probably drives the speaker load directly with a 70V max output.

. . . Or you could just put a lot of speakers in series to get the load impedance up to what the amp is rated for . . .
